Pattern guide

Enter common rotating patterns.

Patterns are space- or comma-separated codes. Use D for day, E for evening, N for night and O for off.

4 on, 4 off

D D D D O O O O

Set the anchor date to the first day shift in the current cycle. A night-based version can use N N N N O O O O.

Two days, two nights, four off

D D N N O O O O

This is useful for testing why the first nominal off day may not function as a full shared day after an overnight shift.

2-2-3 sample week

D D O D D O O

Real 2-2-3 schedules often alternate across a longer two-week cycle. Enter the full sequence used by the actual workplace rather than relying on the short sample preset.

Fixed weekdays

D D D D D O O

Choose a Monday as cycle day 1 when the sequence represents Monday through Sunday.

Different shift lengths

Shift times belong to each person, so one participant can use 07:00–19:00 while another uses 09:00–17:00. The pattern codes describe shift type; the time fields define the actual interval.

Check the anchor date first. Most apparently wrong results come from starting the repeating sequence on the wrong real-world date.
